please have your chamber length checked before shooting your 1897.
I can measure you chamber and lengthen it to 2 3/4 inch also ream a longer
forcing cone. the forcing cone is at the end of the chamber it's like a funnel.
and the longer the cone the less felt recoil better shot pattern and reduced pressures
on your gun.
